A professional guiding service relies on many components to make the business both viable & reliable. rods & reels are one of the main keys that under pins the business. As a sports fishing safari operators our rods and reels must deliver both reliability and performance our reputation depends on it. Shimano have consistently provided us with rods, reels & tropics friendly fishing shirts and shorts that have stood the test of time. We utilize Shimano Rods & Reels and they have provided us with 100% reliability day in day out, year after year in fact for over 20 years. Our Shimano equipment, to use a good old aussie expression, gets an “absolute flogging,” walked on, dropped, gunnel bashed etc etc We hardly get an opportunity to wash our gear down and sometimes it may be weeks, yet the gear comes back for more, it's that good, that reliable. We honestly believe the same Shimano equipment in the hands of a weekend fisherman could last a life time. |

Lure selection is the make or break component of any sports fishing business. Locations, conditions & species change and so should a professional fishing guides lure selection & tactics. Classic Lures work for us in the environments we fish, providing us with an extensive range of size, colour and diving depth options to allow us to adapt to the changes occurring in the system. The lures featured at the top of each page in this web site are all “Classics” When & how to utilize each style, size & colour of lure, is hard won knowledge we have acquired over a 20-year learning curve. Fishing is an ever evolving process of learning and as fishing guides we need to keep open minds, never assume we know it all and don't be afraid to experiment & change. Until someone builds a better “mouse trap” Classic Lures will be our number one choice in hard bodied lures. |

The “Run Off” fishing for barramundi can be a boom, bust situation. Anglers may experience no action for a number of days and then “BOOM” it goes off big time with some spectacular catches of barramundi in both size & numbers. |

Any professional guide worth his salt, will have a high quality pair of sunglasses for both eye protection & spotting. Every situation requires that you spot the fish before your client and on that basis the team at Geoff Corry have invested in the Shimano Tournaments l. Tournaments in our opinion are simply the best, number 1. The technical boys at Shimano tell us that their range are technically superior to any other pair of sunglasses on the market from any other manufacturer in the world, and that's a big call. As professional guides we know Tournament Polarized Photocromatic Glasses are the best so perhaps we can put it into perspective by relating it to an experience from our world. We had a client who had a known brand of “sunnies” that was rated as a quality product, well it should have been as he paid nearly $200 for them. While fishing a tight shaded section of a mangrove lined creek, we said “cast to the barra beside that underwater log” our clients response “what log”? Tournament Polarized Photocromatic Glasses have no equal! |

Suzuki Outboards, The Haines Group, Suzukis have to be, as we are often in isolated & remote parts of the Top End with no Air Sea rescue, Water Police or passing water traffic to rely on, just our Suzuki outboards to get us back safely . Our engines travel over some of the roughest and dustiest roads in Australia often arriving to find them covered in a layer of red dust, yet they never fail to fire up . The gear boxes also get a real hammering with constant back ups playing fish, manouvering and avoiding snags. Our boats are around the 5.5 metres in length and as well as covering long distances in open water we also go into very tight spots were the bigger 6 & 7 metre 'cattle boats' as we call them, can't go and so leg and prop hits on logs and snags are common for us, but despite all that, the Suzuki's have proven to be bullet proof. |

Outboards and hulls are the foundations for our business because if we can't reliably get to and from our destinations then the tackle dept is basically useless. GS Marine has supported our business in the most professional manner possible. The hulls are brilliant , being stable at rest, yet with the ability to cut through the rough stuff once the wind & chop gets up. The rear helmsman station gives us tons of working space especially when a BIG ONE is hooked. Level checker plate floors with a forward casting platform and heaps of under floor storage for safety gear, ice boxes, fuel and kill tanks make the GS Marine hull a tough & reliable package. We should also make comment regarding the back up from GS, on the odd occasions that we have had a problem, GS without hesitation have been there to assist us. An example of the GS commitment is that we had a problem out at Dundee Beach . This was a simple fix, as a part had come lose and anyone who has been to Dundee will know that the road there could shake a dead person back to life. GS came out to us that night after a 9pm phone call. That's a 3 hour return drive plus the repair time, GS Marine is a business that truly understands the meaning of “customer service” |
